Search goals: Find Kendra’s biological father, and find Kendra’s maternal half siblings

Kendra reached out for help with assistance in finding her biological father, as well as her maternal half siblings.

She had heard that her biological father was between one of two men who knew her biological mother. I took a look at her matches and got to work splitting them into maternal and paternal groups.

As I looked through Kendra’s paternal matches, I recognized some familiar names- a grandmother and a granddaughter I had also done a search for, as well as another match managed by a fellow genealogist friend of mine. It really is a small world!

The grandmother/granddaughter match helped me quickly figure out one of Kendra’s paternal family names. Her paternal matches indeed aligned with the family of one of the two men that were possibly her biological father. Fortunately she had many paternal matches which made it quick work.

We then switched gears to look for Kendra’s maternal half siblings. She knew her biological mother’s name, so I searched around and found Kendra’s maternal grandparents’ obituaries. As an interesting aside, her biological maternal grandmother was an adoptee as well.

The obituaries listed Kendra’s half siblings’ full names, and knowing the province they lived in, I found both their Facebook profiles pretty easily. Kendra is glad to have discovered more of her biological family.
