Search goal: Identify Joseph’s biological father

Joseph reached out for help finding his biological father. He had some non identifying information, including the year of birth for his biological father. He also knew his maternal side, which helped split his AncestryDNA matches into maternal/paternal easily.

Joseph’s paternal matches split into two main groups representing his paternal grandparents. Several of the closer matches were from both groups. Many had trees which helped make building the research tree quick work. I found the couple that connected the two match groups via a marriage, and saw that they had several sons, one of which would be Joseph’s biological father.

There were 4 sons to research, and with the help of FindAGrave I found one that was born in 1932 and was also named Joseph- a very good probability for being Joseph’s biological father.

While further testing of other family members would ultimately confirm that Joseph Sr was Joseph’s biological father, Joseph was satisfied with my findings coupled with the information he had, and he was happy to have a family tree of his biological paternal side.
