Search goal: Find Morgan’s biological parents

Morgan is an adoptee who was in search of his biological parents. He had his birthmother’s address at the time of this birth, as well as her full name and approximate age. With that information in mind, I took a look at his AncestryDNA matches and got started.

Morgan’s matches split into four match groups- two on one parent’s side and two on the other. I started working on the Parent 1 side that had several close matches, and many that were from both parent 1 groups. It was pretty easy to see who the common ancestors were going to be a set of Morgan’s grandparents. From the family last name, I knew that this was not Morgan’s biological mother’s side, but instead his paternal side.

There were only two brothers in the sibling set that Morgan’s biological father was from. Each brother had had a few children, were close in age with Morgan’s biological mother, and both had unfortunately passed away. Testing of their descendants would 100% confirm paternity of the man Morgan believes is his biological father.

The maternal groups were smaller and had fewer matches- one group was connected by the last name Morgan’s biological mother had, and the other group was connected by the last name Coulter. I searched the address of Morgan’s biological mother, in a Toronto directory which led me to finding her parent’s names as well as their marriage certificate- Morgan’s biological mother’s mom was a Coulter!

I found their obituaries, which gave us Morgan’s biological mother’s last name, which sadly led to finding her obituary as well. Despite this, Morgan hopes to connect with his half siblings on both sides and is glad to be able to fill out his family tree some more.
